Chandigarh: The Punjab government has approved the promotion of 68 inspectors from different police cadres to the rank of deputy superintendent of police (DSP), according to an official order issued by the state’s home affairs department.

Under the revised pay structure based on the Sixth Pay Commission, the promoted officers will be placed in pay level 18, with salaries ranging from ₹56,100 to ₹1,77,500.
According to the order, the district cadre accounts for the largest share of promotions, with 42 inspectors elevated to the DSP rank. Another 16 promotions have been approved in the armed cadre, while 10 inspectors from the Technical Services cadre (TSS) have also been promoted.

The sealed-cover procedure means their promotion cases have been withheld pending the outcome of the relevant proceedings, in accordance with the applicable rules.
