Toronto: A 37-year-old Indian national from Karnataka was shot dead in Canada after assailants opened fire on the car he was travelling in, police said.
The victim has been identified as Chandan Kumar, a native of Thyamagondlu village in Nelamangala taluk of Karnataka. According to preliminary information, the attackers fired multiple rounds at the vehicle in a sudden and targeted attack, killing Kumar on the spot.
Chandan Kumar had been living and working in Canada for the past six years and was employed with a private company. The motive behind the shooting is yet to be ascertained.
Local police have launched an investigation into the incident and are examining possible leads, including CCTV footage from the area. Further details are awaited as the probe continues.
