Armed men storm Ludhiana school, vandalise property; one accused identified

Chandigarh: Panic gripped a school in Model Town, Ludhiana, after armed men barged into the Guru Nanak Education Trust (Gujarkhan campus) on Wednesday and created chaos on the premises.

According to the complaint, the attackers not only damaged school property but also tampered with and destroyed important documents. Two days after the incident, Model Town police registered a case and identified one accused as Saranbir Singh Sarna, a resident of New Model Town.

Complainant and trust general secretary Gurvinder Singh Sarna, a resident of BRS Nagar, told police that around 9:30 am on April 6, 2026, he received a call from the school informing him that some individuals had forcibly entered the campus.

The attackers arrived in a white Scorpio (PB-10-CK-5200) and were armed with pistols and other deadly weapons. Despite the presence of security guards and warning notices on the premises, the accused tore down a notice outside the director’s office, broke open the lock, and entered the room.

They allegedly tampered with and destroyed key records and documents kept in the office.

When staff members and security personnel tried to intervene, the accused pushed them, hurled abuses, and issued death threats, creating an atmosphere of fear inside the school.

The accused fled the spot after the incident. Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act, and further investigation is underway.
