New Delhi: India’s batting star Virat Kohli has been ruled out of the upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan due to a hamstring injury. The three-match series is scheduled to begin on June 13 in Dharamshala.
According to sources, Kohli suffered a hamstring strain and has been advised to stay out of action for the series as part of his recovery process.
The 37-year-old batter, renowned for his fitness and consistency, was recently in outstanding form during the Indian Premier League season. He played a key role in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s successful title campaign and contributed crucial runs in the final.
Kohli’s absence is expected to be a significant setback for the Indian side and a disappointment for cricket fans. Despite limiting his international commitments to selected formats in recent years, he remains one of the sport’s biggest attractions and a central figure in India’s batting lineup.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to announce a replacement for the series in the coming days. Team management will also monitor Kohli’s rehabilitation closely ahead of upcoming international assignments.
The ODI series against Afghanistan will serve as an important opportunity for India to test its bench strength and provide game time to several players in Kohli’s absence.
