Kuwait City: An Indian national was killed and at least 63 people were injured following a drone strike near Kuwait International Airport, according to local authorities. Several of the injured are reported to be in critical condition and are receiving treatment at hospitals.
Officials from Kuwait’s Health Ministry said many victims suffered serious injuries to the head and other parts of the body. Emergency services dispatched around 25 ambulances to the scene to transport the injured for medical care.
The incident also caused significant damage to Terminal 1 of Kuwait International Airport. Airport operations were temporarily disrupted as security agencies carried out precautionary measures and assessed the situation.
The Indian Embassy in Kuwait expressed condolences over the death of the Indian citizen and said it was monitoring developments while extending assistance to those affected.
The attack comes amid heightened tensions in the region. Earlier, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that multiple drone attacks targeting American military personnel in Kuwait had been attempted but were intercepted before causing damage.
Meanwhile, former US President Donald Trump acknowledged reports that he had used strong language while discussing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a recent phone conversation. However, Trump said he continued to maintain a positive working relationship with Netanyahu.
Speaking during a podcast interview, Trump said he was frustrated by recent military developments in the region but emphasized that he respected the Israeli leader and had worked closely with him over the years.
Regional security agencies continue to monitor the situation as investigations into the drone strike remain underway.
