Amritpal supporter arrested in connection with three low-intensity blasts near Golden Temple

Chandigarh: The Punjab Police has claimed to have caught accused of three blasts in the vicinity of the Golden Temple in Amritsar within 5 days. A total of 5 people have been arrested. According to the police, these five carried out the three blasts between May 5 and May 11. As soon as the third blast took place near the Golden Temple on the night of May 10, the police on high alert as well as the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) teams became active. First, the SGPC task force caught the main accused Azadbir Singh and handed him over to the police.
Four other accused were also arrested within a few hours at the behest of Azadbir. Their names are Amrik Singh, Sahab Singh, Dharmendra and Harjeet. One of them, Amrik Singh, was living with his wife in room number 225 of Guru Ramdas Sarai. Police are also questioning his wife.
Of the five accused, Azadbir and Amrik Singh played the main role in the blasts. Both have been naughty from the beginning. While Azadbir has been dismissed from a government job due to bribery, Amrik Singh is a drug addict, police said. Both of them carried out the blasts after being annoyed over the imposition of NSA on Amritpal Singh, the head of the Waris Punjab De organization. Amritpal was arrested by the police on April 23. After that Azadbir planned these blasts.
