Dirba hooch tragedy: 3 more die at Rajindra Hospital, death toll rises to 8

Sangrur: Three out of the 10 individuals who were in critical condition at the Government Rajindra Medical College Hospital here after consuming spurious liquor at Gujjaran village near Dirba in Sangrur district have died today, police said.

One person, Ladi Singh, had died yesterday. With this, the death toll in this incident has risen to 8. The deceased have been identified as Kirpal Singh (60) from Village Dhandoli Khurd in Sangrur district, Kuldeep Singh (25) from Village Dhandoli Khurd, and Gursewak Singh (45) from Village Uppali.

The patients currently admitted to the hospital include 18-year-old Veerpal Singh, 26-year-old Satnam Singh, 30-year-old Shammi, 45-year-old Randhir Singh, and 50-year-old Jarnail Singh from Village Gujaran.

Kuldeep Singh’s father, Gurjant Singh, was also receiving treatment here, but upon learning of his son’s death, he took leave.
