Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday assured that no effort would be spared in the investigation into the killing of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota in Mansa, and vowed strict punishment for those found responsible.
In a statement issued nearly 24 hours after the incident, Mann described the killing as deeply unfortunate and expressed condolences to Jhota’s family. He said Punjab Police had been directed to take strict action and ensure that everyone found guilty was dealt with according to the law.
The chief minister also warned that if a conspiracy behind the killing emerged during the investigation, those involved would not be spared.
Calling Punjab’s youth an asset to the state, Mann said any attempt to undermine law and order would not be tolerated. He also cautioned against taking the law into one’s own hands, saying those involved in such acts would face legal action.
Mann appealed to the people of Punjab to maintain peace as the investigation continues and tensions remain high following Jhota’s killing.
