Jalandhar: A local dog came to the rescue of an 18-year-old youth who was allegedly attacked by three men with kicks, punches and a kirpan in Valmiki Mohalla, Garha, on Thursday evening.
The incident began after two friends reportedly got into a fight in the street. During the altercation, friends of one of the youths allegedly surrounded the other, identified as Mintu, and began assaulting him.
The attackers allegedly continued beating Mintu and also struck him with a kirpan, leaving him seriously injured and bleeding heavily.
As the assault continued, a dog living in the neighbourhood suddenly charged towards the attackers. The men were forced to step back, giving Mintu a crucial opportunity to escape further blows. The entire incident was captured on CCTV.
Mintu, a resident of Eidgah Mohalla, was rushed to a nearby hospital by local residents and family members. His condition was reported to be serious.
Police identified the accused as Chetan, Lavish and Lakshya. An FIR was registered under Sections 109, 126(2) and 3(5) of the BNS, and all three accused were arrested.
