Ludhiana: An Additional Commissioner of the Excise Department was allegedly assaulted inside his office in Ludhiana on Thursday after a man reportedly entered the office, abused him and allegedly got into a physical altercation with him.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly pushed the officer and tore his shirt. He also allegedly punched the officer in the chest and damaged his government-issued mobile phone and spectacles.
Following the incident, the Additional Commissioner informed Division No. 5 police station.
ASI Purshottam Lal said police received information about the assault and arrested the accused after registering a case based on the officer’s complaint.
The motive behind the alleged assault was not immediately clear.
