Toronto: Canadian police have arrested Abdul Ghafoori, the partner of 30-year-old Indian-origin woman Himanshi Khurana, nearly seven months after her death in Toronto.
According to Toronto Police, 32-year-old Ghafoori was arrested at a Toronto-area airport on Friday, August 7, and charged with first-degree murder.
Police said their Fugitive Squad and Homicide and Missing Persons Unit worked with national and international law-enforcement agencies to identify, locate and return the wanted suspect to Canada. Police have not disclosed where Ghafoori had been staying before his arrest.
Himanshi was found dead in December 2025
Police received a missing-person report concerning Himanshi on the night of December 19, 2025, in the area of Strachan Avenue and Wellington Street West in Toronto.
The alert was received at around 10.41pm, following which officers began searching the area. At around 6.30am the next morning, Himanshi’s body was found inside a house in the same area.
Following an initial investigation, police determined that her death was a homicide. The case was recorded as Toronto’s 40th homicide of 2025.
The arrest of Ghafoori marks a major development in the investigation, although police have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding Himanshi’s death.
