4.90 lakh more voters in Punjab compared to 2019, ECI prepares to build 1220 new polling stations this time

Chandigarh: Preparations are underway in full swing by the Election Commission for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 to ensure that voters do not encounter any issues during the election.

It has also been decided to establish model polling stations for convenience. Additionally, the number of polling stations has been increased for this election. With the increase in the number of voters, it was decided to establish new polling stations.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, there were a total of 2,07,81,211 voters, while according to the data released by the Election Commission, the number of voters has increased to 2,12,71,246 in this Lok Sabha election as of March 1, 2024. This is why it has been decided to establish 1,220 new polling stations this time.

In the last Lok Sabha elections, the number of polling stations was 23,213, whereas this time the number has been increased to 24,433.
