Flood alert in Dinanagar, water released from Pong dam raises water in Beas

Ropar News: The water level in river Beas has risen after the release of water from Pong dam. The district administration has issued an alert and asked them to move to safer places due to the rising water level in the villages of Chechia Chhoriya, Pakhowal Kuliyan, Dalelpur Khera, Chhina Bet, Nadala, Jagatpur Kalan, Kohlian, Khairian, Padana villages of Dinanagar area.
     There has been a flood situation in Punjab once again. Both Bhakra dam, the country’s second largest dam on the Sutlej river, and Pong dam on the Beas river have reached the danger mark.
   Yesterday, after nearly 35 years, the flood gates of Bhakra were opened more than 10 feet, which were closed late at night. At the same time, water is being released continuously from pong dam.
