Republic Day- Full-dress rehearsal takes place in GGS stadium Jalandhar

Jalandhar: Ahead of the 75th Republic Day celebrations, a full dress rehearsal was carried out at the local Guru Gobind Singh stadium on Wednesday where Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal unfurled the national flag.

   Sarangal also inspected the parade and took a salute from the march past led by parade commander PPS Officer Damanbeer Singh. The parade comprised the contingents from ITBP, Jalandhar Commissionerate Police (Men & Women), Police Recruits Training Centre, Jahan Khelan, Punjab Home Guards, NCC scouts (Boys and Girls), DSSD Sodal Road, Government Girls SS School Adarsh Nagar, Lyallpur Khalsa SS School (Boys), and Lyallpur Khalsa High School (Girls) and CRPF Band.

 The students of SD College, Red Cross School for Deaf and Dumb, KMV College, SD Phularwan Girls SS School, and Police DAV School performed cultural items depicting patriotism during the event.

    Later, Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal held detailed discussions with the officials of civil and police administration and gave necessary directions to ensure smooth conduct of the event on January 26 where

   Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema will unfurl the tricolour. He said that elaborate arrangements of security, traffic, parking, and others must be meticulously planned and executed during the January 26 event.

   He said that tableaux on different themes would also be showcased at the event.

   The Deputy Commissioner said that every effort would be made to celebrate the auspicious day with full patriotic fervor.

   On the occasion, Joint CP Sandeep Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner Major Dr Amit Mahajan, and heads of various departments were also present.
