The Sikh Gurdwara (Amendment) Bill, 2023 passed in the Vidhan Sabha to ensure ‘free transmission’ of Gurbani

CM Mann questions SGPC that why it ignored orders of Akal Takht Jathedar last year to open its own channel to telecast Gurbani
Chandigarh: The Sikh Gurdwara (Amendment) Bill, 2023 has been passed in the special session of the 16th Punjab Vidhan Sabha today to ensure ‘free transmission’ of Gurbani from Sri Harmandir Sahib.
The Punjab Cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, had yesterday given its nod to amend the Sikh Gurdwaras Act, 1925.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, in support of the Sikh Gurdwaras Amendment Bill-2023 in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, said that talks are being held in the House together.
During his speech, he said that last year, former Akal Takht Jathedar Harpreet Singh had asked the SGPC to start its own channel but it did not happen, he said. He made it clear that the government was not interfering in Sikh affairs.
