Sonipat: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday arrested a woman sub-inspector in Haryana’s Sonepat while she was accepting a bribe of Rs 60,000 at the Civil Lines police station.
Officials said SI Manju had demanded Rs 1 lakh from a young man in exchange for cancelling a rape FIR, having already taken Rs 40,000 earlier. The complainant approached the ACB, following which a trap was laid.
SI Manju called the complainant to the police station on Saturday to collect the remaining amount. As soon as the money was handed over, the ACB team arrested her and recovered Rs 60,000 from her possession.
The ACB is questioning the sub-inspector, and a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against her.
