Mumbai: Elon Musk-owned Tesla has entered the Indian market, opening its first showroom at Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai. The electric vehicle maker will sell its Model Y cars in India, priced at $69,770.
The showroom was inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who said the state wants to see Tesla set up its research, development, and manufacturing facilities in India.
Speaking at the event, Fadnavis said Mumbai is not only the financial, commercial, and entertainment capital of India but also an entrepreneurial hub.
Last month, Tesla India leased 24,565 square feet of warehousing space at Lodha Logistics Park in Mumbai for five years, ahead of its formal entry into the country.
