New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday cancelled the bail granted to two-time Olympic medallist wrestler Sushil Kumar in connection with the murder of junior national wrestling champion Sagar Dhankar, and directed him to surrender within seven days.
A bench of Justices Sanjay Karol and Prashant Kumar Mishra allowed the plea filed by Ashok Dhankar, father of the deceased, reversing the Delhi High Court’s March 4 bail order.
Sushil Kumar and his associates are accused of attacking Sagar Dhankar over a property dispute.
According to the postmortem report, Sagar died due to severe head injuries. Following the apex court’s order, Sushil Kumar will now have to surrender before the police.
