Rahul Gandhi launches ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav joins campaign

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on today launched the ‘Vote Rights Yatra’ from Sasaram in Bihar, about two months before the assembly elections in the state.

The 16-day campaign will cover more than 20 districts, span nearly 1,300 km, and conclude on September 1 with a Grand Alliance rally in Patna.

Rahul Gandhi was joined by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, KC Venugopal and other senior leaders at the launch. Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav will accompany him during the yatra.

The Congress said the march aims to highlight the alleged denial of voting rights in Bihar. “What can be a bigger irony in a democracy than to deny people the freedom to vote and choose their government? We assure all of you that we will fight with full determination for your right to vote,” Tejashwi Yadav wrote on X.

Rahul Gandhi, who has repeatedly accused the government of vote theft, reached Sasaram earlier in the day, where he was received by senior party leaders.
