India beat Pakistan by 7 wickets in Asia Cup clash, players avoid handshake

New Delhi: India defeated Pakistan by seven wickets in the sixth match of the Asia Cup at the Dubai International Stadium. Chasing 128 runs, the Indian side reached the target in the 16th over with three wickets down.

Pakistan, who won the toss and opted to bat, managed 127 runs for nine wickets. Sahibzada Farhan (40) and Shaheen Afridi (33) were the only notable scorers.

Kuldeep Yadav led India’s bowling attack with three wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel claimed two each. Hardik Pandya and Varun Chakravarthy picked up one apiece.

India’s chase was anchored by captain Suryakumar Yadav, who remained unbeaten on 47. Openers Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma contributed 31 runs each, with Surya and Tilak adding 56 runs for the third wicket. Pakistan’s Saeem Ayub took all three Indian wickets.

Tensions between the sides were evident as Indian players did not shake hands with their Pakistani counterparts after the match.

Earlier, Suryakumar Yadav had also avoided a handshake with Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha at the toss.

With this win, India stays at the top of Group A and strengthens its chances of qualifying for the Super Four stage. Pakistan must now beat the UAE in their final group match to remain in contention.
