New Delhi: Navjot Singh, a deputy secretary in the Union Finance Ministry’s Department of Economic Affairs, was killed in a road accident in southwest Delhi on Sunday, while his wife Sandeep Kaur was seriously injured.
Police said the couple was returning from Gurdwara Bangla Sahib when their motorcycle was hit by a BMW near Dhaula Kuan metro station, causing them to collide with a bus. Singh, a resident of Hari Nagar, was declared dead at a hospital, and his wife remains under treatment.
Their son, Navnoor Singh, has alleged negligence, claiming his parents were taken 20 km away to New Life Hospital in GTB Nagar—reportedly linked to the BMW driver—instead of a nearby super-specialty facility. He said his father’s life could have been saved if immediate treatment was provided.
The Delhi Police confirmed that a case of culpable homicide has been registered and the investigation is ongoing.
