CHANDIGARH: Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh on Friday released the Mental Health Policy of Punjab on the occasion of World Mental Health Day.
The initiative aims to provide focused care and support for individuals affected by psychological distress, particularly those impacted by the recent floods and Operation Sindoor in the state.
Dr. Singh said that a large number of people have experienced mental trauma due to these incidents, while many youths have fallen into drug addiction as a result of mental stress.
He added that the state government will now give special attention to the treatment of persons suffering from mental illnesses.
He further said that efforts will be made to strengthen the mental well-being of people with the help of professional psychologists and counselling services across the state.
