Samrala police register case against suspended Ropar DIG over liquor recovery

Chandigarh: Samrala police have registered a case under the Excise Act against Ropar Range DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar, who was suspended following his arrest by the CBI in a corruption case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) recently raided Bhullar’s farmhouse in Bondli village, Samrala, and recovered 108 bottles of liquor.

Samrala DSP Tarlochan Singh confirmed that the FIR was filed on Saturday based on the statement of CBI inspector Romi Pal.

Along with the liquor, 17 bullets were also recovered during the raid. The FIR does not include charges under the Arms Act, as authorities are yet to verify whether the bullets belonged to a licensed weapon.
