9mm cartridges recovered from Red Fort blast site, investigation widens

New Delhi: Sources in the Delhi Police have confirmed the recovery of three cartridges — two live and one empty — from the site of the car blast near the Red Fort. Officials said the 9mm caliber cartridges belong to a weapon that no civilian can possess. These are usually held by the armed forces or individuals with special permission.

A senior official said that although the cartridges were found, no pistol or its parts were recovered from the spot. Police are now examining how the cartridges reached the location and whether they were in the possession of the blast suspect.

The recovery of the ammunition has added a new angle to the probe as investigators are trying to trace the source of the explosives and examine potential links to a terror or criminal network. Security agencies have reviewed CCTV footage and collected forensic evidence from the area.

At least 13 people have been killed in the blast near the Red Fort complex in the national capital on November 10.
