Chandigarh: The Ludhiana police have arrested two suspected terrorists following an encounter near the Ladhowal toll plaza late on Thursday evening. Both accused sustained injuries during the exchange of fire and were taken to the Civil Hospital for treatment, officials said.
Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma rushed to the spot with a team after receiving information about the suspects. Officers said the duo was planning a major crime and attempted to flee when confronted by police.
According to the police, two hand grenades, four pistols and over 50 cartridges were recovered from the suspects. The seizure indicates that the accused were preparing for a major attack.
Police are probing the case as a terrorist module working for Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI and further investigation is underway, officials added.
