Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann conducted a surprise inspection at the Kurali bus stand early on Saturday morning, reaching the site around 3.30 am without any convoy, security staff or prior intimation. The Chief Minister interacted directly with passengers, inspected facilities and reviewed transport services.

According to passengers, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann boarded several buses and spoke to commuters about issues they were facing. He first met an elderly man named Hari Singh, who told him that buses do not stop at the stand and that people often struggle to find transport.

Passengers present at the spot also complained that buses headed towards major routes, including Amritsar, failed to halt at Kurali, causing significant inconvenience.

After listening to the grievances, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann called the Deputy Commissioner on the spot and sought an immediate resolution. The Chief Minister remained at the bus stand for nearly an hour to observe the situation himself and noted that buses indeed were not stopping at the location.

The sudden visit reportedly caused a stir within the transport department. Several officials and employees expressed surprise at the Chief Minister’s unannounced arrival. During the inspection, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann checked the cleanliness of the bus stand, assessed basic amenities and reviewed operational issues. He also issued on-the-spot instructions to address the shortcomings highlighted by passengers.

Local residents said the Chief Minister told them he was on his way to Jalandhar and decided to stop after noticing people waiting at the stand. His early morning inspection has brought renewed focus to long-standing transport-related complaints in the area.
