Chandigarh: Several senior political leaders joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday in the presence of Haryana CM Nayab Saini, Punjab BJP Chief Sunil Jakhar and Ashwani Sharma.
Those who joined the BJP included Jagmeet Brar, Ripjeet Brar and senior Akali leader Charanjit Singh Brar, who had recently resigned from the Shiromani Akali Dal (Sudhar Lehar). Former officer on special duty (OSD) to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Onkar Singh, also joined the BJP during the event.
The induction ceremony was held amid growing political activity in Punjab, with the BJP aiming to strengthen its organisational base ahead of the upcoming elections. Party leaders said the joining of experienced political figures would help expand the BJP’s outreach in the state.
Political observers view the move as part of the BJP’s broader strategy to consolidate support and increase its influence in Punjab before the polls.
