Advocate Dhami Lays Foundation Stone of ‘Sri Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan’ for Pilgrims’ Accommodation
Amritsar News: The President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, on Monday held a meeting in Raipur with management committees of various Gurdwaras and prominent Sikh leaders of Chhattisgarh. During the interaction, he reviewed the ongoing initiatives of the SGPC in the state and outlined a roadmap to further intensify the propagation of Sikh faith in the coming times.
Earlier, Advocate Dhami specially arrived to participate in the religious congregation organised to dedicate the renovated building of Gurdwara Guru Nanak Sahib Ji, Rawabhata to the sangat. On this occasion, he also laid the foundation stone of ‘Sri Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan’, a facility being constructed to provide accommodation for devotees visiting the Gurdwara.
The management of Gurdwara Guru Nanak Sahib Ji is being overseen by the SGPC through Sikh Mission Chhattisgarh. The renovation of the Gurdwara building was carried out with the support of the sangat, under the sewa (voluntary service) of SJagjit Singh Khanuja and his family.
Addressing the gathering, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that the SGPC is making dedicated efforts to promote and spread Sikh principles outside Punjab through Sikh Missions. He added that Sikh Mission Chhattisgarh has been consistently active in religious outreach and, with the cooperation of local Gurdwara committees, further focused efforts will be undertaken to accelerate this mission.
He expressed pride that Sikhs living outside Punjab have preserved their Sikh identity in accordance with the teachings of the Gurus. Emphasising the legacy of the SGPC, he said it is an institution belonging to every Sikh, established after prolonged struggles by elders, and it is the duty of every Sikh to support it and contribute to the propagation of the faith. He also announced that additional facilities for the convenience of the sangat at this sacred place would be developed with special financial provisions.
On the occasion, social worker and Sikh leader Baldev Singh Bhatia and Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Minority Commission Amarjit Singh Chhabra also shared their views with the congregation. Sikh leaders of Chhattisgarh honoured Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami and other dignitaries during the programme.
Those present included OSD Satbir Singh Dhami; Secretary SGPC’s Dharam Prachar Committee, Balwinder Singh Kahlwan; in-charges of Sikh Mission Chhattisgarh Gurmeet Singh Shaini and Ajit Singh; Sikh leaders Jagjit Singh Khanuja, G S Bamra; Chairman, Chhattisgarh Minority Commission, Amarjit Singh Chhabra; Baldev Singh Bhatia; former MLA Gurmukh Singh; Kuldeep Singh Janeja; Ravi Raj Singh; Balraj Singh; Gurmej Singh Bhavra, along with several other prominent personalities.
