India reach fourth T20 World Cup final after 7-run win over England

New Delhi: India national cricket team defeated England national cricket team by seven runs in the second semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup at the Wankhede Stadium, booking their place in the final for the fourth time.

Batting first, India posted a massive total of 253 runs, powered by an impressive knock of 89 from Sanju Samson.

Chasing a daunting target of 254, England fought hard and reached 224 for six after 19 overs, with Jacob Bethell scoring a century. However, the hosts managed to restrict England to 246, securing a narrow seven-run victory.

During the chase, Hardik Pandya dismissed Sam Curran for 18 runs in the 19th over, caught by Tilak Varma at the boundary. Earlier, Arshdeep Singh removed Will Jacks for 35 runs, while Axar Patel bowled Tom Banton for 17.

In the powerplay, Varun Chakravarthy bowled England captain Jos Buttler for 25 runs — the sixth time he has dismissed him in T20 cricket. Jasprit Bumrah also struck early, dismissing Harry Brook for 7 runs, caught by Axar Patel.

With this victory, India advanced to the T20 World Cup final, keeping their hopes of lifting the title alive.
