Centre submits sealed intelligence report in Punjab and Haryana HC on threat to Bikram Majithia

Chandigarh: The central government has submitted a sealed intelligence report in the Punjab and Haryana High Court regarding possible security threats to senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia.

Additional Solicitor General Satya Pal Jain, appearing for the Centre, informed the court that the report had already been sent to the Punjab government on February 27 for necessary action.

The matter came before the court following a petition filed by Majithia, in which he claimed that his life was under serious threat. In the plea, he sought a review of his security arrangements and requested adequate protection.

The petition also stated that his continuous political engagements and participation in public events have increased the risk of a possible attack.

During the hearing, the Punjab government told the court that it required additional time to examine the intelligence report and assess all aspects related to security.

The court has now adjourned the hearing until March 17 and directed the state government to clarify its position before the next date of hearing.
