Mohali: A 29-year-old woman was murdered inside a private logistics company’s office in Mohali’s Phase 11 area on Thursday evening after a co-worker allegedly attacked her with a knife. The accused later sustained serious injuries after an alleged suicide attempt and is currently undergoing treatment in hospital.
The deceased, identified as Dimple, worked in the dispatch department of the company. The accused, Harjinder, 34, was also employed at the same workplace.
According to police, the incident took place around 7:30 pm when the accused allegedly entered the victim’s cabin and an argument broke out between the two. Investigators said the dispute escalated, following which the accused allegedly launched a knife attack.
Witnesses told police that the woman tried to escape and seek help from colleagues, but the attacker continued to pursue her inside the office. Employees attempted to intervene and alerted emergency services.
Both the victim and the accused were rushed to a private hospital. Doctors declared Dimple dead, while the accused was admitted in critical condition.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the two may have previously been in a relationship. Police are examining whether personal differences may have played a role in the incident.
Forensic teams inspected the scene and collected evidence, while CCTV footage from the office has been seized for examination. Police said statements of family members and witnesses are being recorded and further investigation is underway.
