Chandigarh: The launch of the Punjab government’s ‘Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’ was celebrated at the office of AAP Jalandhar Central Halka in-charge Nitin Kohli on Wednesday as the first instalments under the scheme began reaching the bank accounts of eligible women across the state.
Addressing the gathering, Nitin Kohli hailed the initiative as a historic step towards women’s dignity and economic empowerment. He said the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government had fulfilled another major election promise by starting financial assistance for eligible women.
Under the scheme, women from the general category will receive ₹1,000 per month, while women belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category will receive ₹1,500 per month. The first instalment includes payment for three months, with eligible beneficiaries receiving the amount directly into their bank accounts.
Kohli said the scheme would provide financial support to thousands of families and help women become more self-reliant. He added that the Punjab government remains committed to fulfilling every promise made to the people and implementing welfare measures aimed at improving their lives.
He also congratulated the beneficiaries and urged all eligible women to take advantage of the government’s welfare schemes.
Women present at the event expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the Aam Aadmi Party, saying the government had fulfilled its election promise. Several beneficiaries said previous governments had not introduced such a scheme for women and expressed hope that the financial assistance would provide meaningful support to households across Punjab.
