Tripat Bajwa urges Congress high command to reconsider Punjab reorganisation after Channi’s Morinda meeting

Chandigarh: Senior Congress leader and former Punjab minister Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa has urged the Congress high command to reconsider the recent organisational reshuffle in Punjab following the ‘Morinda Manthan’ meeting hosted by former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.

Speaking to the media after attending the meeting, Bajwa said the newly announced organisational structure had disappointed party workers as well as the people of Punjab and did not meet public expectations.

He said all the leaders present at the meeting had requested Charanjit Singh Channi to seek an appointment with the Congress high command so that they could openly present their concerns regarding the reorganisation.

Bajwa clarified that the leaders were not upset with the party high command but wanted the organisation to be strengthened with the objective of bringing the Congress back to power in Punjab.

“We all want the next government in Punjab to be formed by the Congress. Keeping in mind the aspirations of the people of Punjab, the high command should reconsider its decision on the organisational restructuring,” Bajwa said.

His remarks indicate that the Morinda meeting was not aimed at launching an open rebellion against the party leadership. Instead, the participating leaders appear to be seeking to build pressure on the Congress high command to review the recently announced organisational changes through internal discussions rather than confrontation.
