Australia deports 15 Indians, 11 from Punjab; CM Bhagwant Mann says probe into illegal acts on return

Chandigarh: Australia has deported 15 Indian nationals, including 11 from Punjab, who are expected to arrive at Delhi airport by the night of April 29, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said on Wednesday.

According to Mann, the deportees include 11 from Punjab (10 men and one woman), two from Telangana, and one each from Haryana and Uttarakhand. The Punjab residents will be handed over to state authorities upon arrival at the airport.

The Chief Minister said preliminary information suggests the deportations were linked to alleged illegal activities. He added that authorities will question the individuals after their return to ascertain the exact reasons behind their deportation.

Mann also stated that the Punjab government is working to reduce migration by creating more job opportunities within the state. “If youth get employment here, they won’t need to go abroad,” he said, highlighting ongoing efforts to generate jobs for young people.
