CM Mann to launch ‘Shukrana Yatra’ from May 5 after sacrilege law

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will begin a four-day ‘Shukrana Yatra’ from May 5, starting at Sri Anandpur Sahib, as a mark of gratitude following the enactment of the Jagat Jyot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Act-2026.

The Chief Minister will visit main Sikh religious sites (Takhts and gurdwaras) during the yatra and offer prayers.

Yatra schedule

May 5 – Start of yatra

The yatra will begin from Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib. On the same day, Mann will pay obeisance at Harmandir Sahib.

May 6 – Amritsar to Talwandi Sabo

The yatra will proceed to Takht Sri Damdama Sahib.

May 7 – Mastuana Sahib

The Chief Minister will visit Mastuana Sahib.

May 8 – Patiala

The final stop will be Gurdwara Sri Dukh Nivaran Sahib.

The yatra aims to express gratitude to Guru Sahib for the government’s step to curb sacrilege incidents and strengthen law and order. During the journey, the Chief Minister is also expected to interact with devotees across towns and villages.

The initiative is being seen as an effort to reinforce respect for religious sentiments while promoting peace and communal harmony in the state.
