Fire breaks out in two coaches of Rajdhani Express near Kota, passengers evacuated safely

New Delhi: A major fire broke out in two coaches of the Rajdhani Express on Sunday morning in the Madhya Pradesh section of the Kota railway division.

The incident occurred around 5.15 am between Luni Richha railway station and Vikramgarh Alot railway station when fire broke out in coach B-1 and the second luggage-cum-guard van attached behind it of the Thiruvananthapuram–Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express.

Following the incident, emergency alarms and hooters were activated at Kota Junction railway station and rescue teams were rushed to the spot.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Jain said around 68 passengers were travelling in the affected coach. No casualties or injuries have been reported so far.

According to railway officials, the train guard first informed the loco pilot about the fire, following which the train was stopped immediately and passengers were evacuated safely.

Officials said the entire coach was emptied within nearly 15 minutes, but the flames spread rapidly through the compartment within minutes.

Railway authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.
