Jalandhar: A youth was injured in a firing incident in Jalandhar’s Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Nagar area on Wednesday morning after assailants allegedly opened fire during a targeted attack.
According to preliminary information, around 25 rounds were reportedly fired during the incident, creating panic among residents in the locality.
The injured person, identified as Rahul, sustained a gunshot wound and was rushed to a private hospital for treatment. His condition was not immediately known.
Initial reports suggest that the attackers arrived with associates and allegedly targeted Rahul and his companions before opening fire. After the incident, the suspects fled the scene.
Police sources suspect that the attack may be linked to an earlier murder case in Nakodar Mandi, with investigators examining whether the shooting was carried out in retaliation for that incident.
The firing sparked fear in the neighbourhood, prompting a police response. Officers have launched an investigation, collected evidence from the scene and begun efforts to identify and trace the suspects involved.
