New Delhi: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann arrived in New Delhi on Thursday to attend the 11th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog, where he is expected to raise key issues concerning the state and present the Punjab government’s major achievements.

During the meeting, Mann is set to provide a detailed account of reforms and initiatives undertaken in sectors such as education, healthcare, industry, employment and skill development. The chief minister is also expected to present data on jobs generated in both the government and private sectors.

Punjab will highlight measures taken to strengthen skill development, simplify industrial investment procedures, improve healthcare services through Aam Aadmi Clinics and implement reforms in the education sector.

Sources said Mann may also raise the issue of pending central funds for Punjab and seek the Centre’s support in resolving key state-related concerns. The state government is also likely to press for a special package to accelerate industrial growth.

As a border state, Punjab is expected to draw attention to the unique challenges it faces, including security and socio-economic issues. The chief minister may also share the results of the state government’s anti-drug campaign, “Yudh Nashian Virudh,” and outline efforts being made to curb drug abuse.

The previous meeting of the NITI Aayog Governing Council was held on May 24, 2025.
