Chandigarh: A young woman allegedly shot and injured her father using his licensed revolver in the jurisdiction of Khalchian Police Station under the Baba Bakala subdivision of Punjab.
Police said the accused has been arrested along with the weapon used in the incident.
According to Sukhpal Singh and Inspector Mukhtar Singh, the accused has been identified as Snehdeep Kaur, daughter of Parminder Singh, a resident of Khalchian village.
Police said Snehdeep Kaur had completed her Class 12 education last year and wanted to move to Australia for further opportunities. According to investigators, disagreements had reportedly been ongoing within the family over her lifestyle and plans to go abroad.
Officials alleged that the girl was upset over restrictions imposed on her by family members. In anger, she allegedly took her father’s licensed revolver and fired at him from behind. The bullet reportedly struck the left side of his body.
The injured man was admitted to the Civil Hospital Baba Bakala for treatment.
Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and recovered the licensed weapon used in the firing.
