Punjab govt shifts Bakrid holiday from May 27 to May 28

Chandigarh: Government of Punjab has changed the date of the gazetted holiday for Eid-ul-Zuha in the state. The public holiday, earlier scheduled for May 27 (Wednesday), will now be observed on May 28 (Thursday).

The holiday has been declared under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.

According to official information, Punjab’s Department of Personnel issued the revised notification after the Central government changed the date of the Bakrid holiday.

The orders were issued by Punjab Chief Secretary K. A. P. Sinha. As per the notification, all government offices, boards, corporations and government educational institutions, including schools, colleges and universities across Punjab, will remain closed on May 28.
