Chandigarh: Former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister and Gurdaspur MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and senior Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia have received a threat message allegedly from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang after opposing the release of the web series ‘Lawrence of Punjab’.
Randhawa had earlier raised objections to the series and demanded a ban, following which the threat was reportedly issued. He has informed Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav about the development.
Questions over jail operations
Reacting to the threat, Randhawa alleged that gangsters are operating with the backing of central agencies. He questioned how Lawrence Bishnoi, lodged in Sabarmati Jail, continues to remain active and issue threats.
He also raised concerns over gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, alleging that despite being lodged in Dibrugarh Jail, he has been openly using mobile phones.
The incident has once again brought focus on security lapses inside prisons and the continued influence of organised crime networks.
