Punjab petrol pump dealers flag fuel shortage crisis, seek urgent government intervention

Chandigarh: Petrol Pump Dealers Association Punjab has written an urgent letter to the Punjab government’s chief secretary seeking immediate intervention over a worsening fuel supply crisis that is reportedly leaving petrol pumps across the state dry.

According to the association, retail outlets operated by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited are among the worst affected.

In the strongly worded letter addressed to the Chief Secretary at the Punjab Civil Secretariat, PPDAP president Paramjit Singh Doaba said dealers are facing repeated delays and disruptions in fuel supplies despite maintaining sufficient advance payments under the prevailing “cash and carry” system.

The association warned that several petrol pumps are running critically low on stock and are frequently going dry, causing operational difficulties as well as inconvenience to the public.

Dealers have urged the Punjab government to step in immediately and coordinate with oil companies to restore regular supply and prevent further disruption in fuel availability across the state.
