Chandigarh: Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Manpreet Singh Iyali has clarified that he will not join the Aam Aadmi Party and will continue to remain associated only with Panthic politics.
Iyali, who had distanced himself from Sukhbir Singh Badal and the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) over differences within the party, said AAP is not a Panthic party and its decisions and functioning are controlled from Delhi.
His clarification came after an AI-generated image went viral on social media showing Iyali along with Bibi Jagir Kaur and Prem Singh Chandumajra alongside Bhagwant Mann.
The viral image had triggered speculation that the three leaders were preparing to join AAP.
Rejecting the claims, Iyali said the photograph was fake and digitally created through artificial intelligence. He said he had no connection with the image or the rumours being circulated online.
He reiterated that he would never join AAP, alleging that the party’s ideology does not align with Panthic principles and that its leadership remains under the control of Delhi.
