Chandigarh: An Anganwadi worker from Barana village near Dera Bassi has alleged that she and her son were brutally assaulted while processing online applications under the Punjab government’s ‘Mawan Dhiyan’ scheme.
According to the complaint, the incident occurred when the worker asked applicants to wait for some time as the mobile application being used for uploading forms was running slowly. She alleged that a few villagers became angry over the delay and later entered her house and attacked her.
The victim, Gurdeep Kaur, a widow and Anganwadi worker, alleged that Kuldeep Singh, his wife Baljinder Kaur, son Ravinder Singh and daughter-in-law Rajvinder Kaur, all residents of the same village, assaulted her and her son.
She said both of them sustained serious injuries in the attack and were admitted to the Civil Hospital, Dera Bassi, where they are undergoing treatment.
Gurdeep Kaur has submitted a written complaint to the police, demanding that an FIR be registered and strict legal action be taken against the accused.
She further claimed that video footage of the incident, along with recordings related to the CDPO office, has been handed over to the police as evidence. Police are examining the complaint and investigating the matter.
