Chandigarh: Police have arrested three accused in the murder case of Punjabi singer Inder Kaur, also known as Yashinder Kaur, and obtained a two-day remand for interrogation.
According to the investigation, the main accused, Sukhwinder Singh alias Sukha, allegedly wanted to forcibly marry the singer. Police said his father, Pritam Singh, was also supporting the proposal.
However, Inder Kaur had reportedly refused to marry him after learning that Sukha was already married and had two children.
Police said the accused held a grudge over the rejection. Investigators revealed that Sukha allegedly travelled from Canada to India through Nepal on May 8, after which the singer was allegedly shot dead and her body thrown into a canal.
Sukhwinder Singh alias Sukha, a resident of Moga, remains absconding.
Meanwhile, police have arrested his father Pritam Singh along with two alleged associates, Karamjit Singh and Ravinder Singh alias Ravi. All three arrested accused are reportedly taxi drivers.
