Amritsar: Fresh posters expressing support for senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia have appeared in Majitha, days after controversial “missing person” posters targeting him surfaced in the area.

The newly installed hoardings feature Majithia’s photograph alongside the slogan, “Tiger Abhi Zinda Hai” (The Tiger is Still Alive). Another message on the posters, written in Punjabi, appears to be directed at his political opponents, asserting that the SAD leader remains politically active despite recent developments.

The identity of those responsible for putting up the posters has not been officially confirmed.

The development comes shortly after large posters describing Majithia as a “missing person” were displayed in parts of Majitha following the registration of a case against him and several others. Those posters had urged members of the public to inform the nearest police station if they had any information regarding his whereabouts.

Neither the organisers of the earlier poster campaign nor government authorities have officially claimed responsibility for the displays.

The controversy stems from an incident on May 31, when Majithia allegedly entered the Majitha police station and attempted to secure the release of Jobanjit Singh, who had been detained in connection with alleged irregularities reported on the day of municipal election vote counting.

Police investigations into the matter are ongoing, while the competing poster campaigns have added a fresh political dimension to the dispute.
