Washington: US President Donald Trump has claimed that he has brought about a change in power in Iran, while signalling that a major deal between the two countries could be imminent.
Speaking in an interview with CNBC News, Trump said Iran has no option but to agree to a deal under the current circumstances. He also issued a strong warning that if negotiations fail, the US military is fully prepared to launch action immediately.
The remarks come as both the US and Iran have indicated their willingness to participate in a fresh round of talks, reportedly linked to ceasefire efforts, expected to take place in Islamabad.
The development comes amid intensified global efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region. With ongoing conflict in Lebanon and rising geopolitical strain, the possibility of both nations coming to the negotiating table is being seen as a significant step towards stability.
According to regional officials quoted by the Associated Press, diplomatic engagement between the two sides could play a key role in easing the situation in the coming days.
