Largest Hindu temple in the US inaugurated in New Jersey

New Delhi: US’s largest Hindu temple has been inaugurated in the state of New Jersey. The BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham temple is spread over 185 acres. 
         The inauguration ceremony of the temple, which began on September 30, lasted for nine days. The opening ceremony of the Akshardham temple in Robnizville took place on Sunday in the presence of Mahant Swami Maharaj. Several rituals were performed during this traditional ceremony.
        The construction of the temple dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan started in 2011 and has been completed this year. 12,500 volunteers from all over the world participated in the construction work of the temple. 
Volunteer Lanni Joshi said that 19 lakh cubic feet of stone has been used in the construction of the temple. 
        According to the details, granite from India, sandstone from Rajasthan, teak wood from Myanmar, marble from Greece, Turkey and Italy and limestone from Bulgaria and Turkey have been imported for the construction of the temple. 
He said that during the construction of the temple, the ancient Indian arts, architecture and culture have been taken care of and these have been included in the design.
