Several Pakistani cricketers block Instagram handles in India after Pahalgam terror attack

New Delhi: Following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, several prominent Pakistani cricketers, including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Wasim Akram, have blocked access to their Instagram accounts in India.

The list of restricted profiles also includes Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood, fast bowlers Hasan Ali and Naseem Shah, batsman Imam-ul-Haq, all-rounder Shadab Khan, and former stars Shoaib Akhtar and Shahid Afridi. The Instagram account of former Pakistan Prime Minister and cricket captain Imran Khan is also no longer accessible to Indian users.

Indian users attempting to view these profiles are now met with a message that reads: “The account is not available in India. This is because we have complied with a legal request to limit this content. We reviewed it against our policies and conducted a legal and human rights assessment. After the review, we limited access to content at a location where it is against local law.”

Instagram has not provided further details on the nature of the legal request or its direct connection to the Pahalgam incident.
