Ludhiana: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is set to hold a protest outside the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office in Ludhiana on Wednesday against what it has described as the alleged political misuse of central investigative agencies, including the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The protest is scheduled to begin at 3pm. According to the party, all AAP MLAs from Ludhiana, chairpersons, wing in-charges, councillors, ward in-charges and a large number of party workers and volunteers are expected to participate.
AAP Ludhiana district president Jatinder Khangura alleged that the Centre was using agencies such as the CBI and ED to target political opponents and suppress dissent. He said the latest developments had led to anger among party workers, prompting the planned demonstration.
The protest comes a day after the CBI conducted searches at multiple locations in Punjab, including premises linked to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Rajbir Singh Ghuman.
Ludhiana Police have increased security around the BJP office ahead of the demonstration. Barricading and traffic diversions are also being planned to manage traffic and maintain law and order during the protest.
